The Journey to CHOP

We're super close to being ready to hit the road for CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia).  As we prepare for our trip, I am feeling anxious.  There are several reasons for these feelings, but there's no real benefit to jumping into that too deeply.  My mind is jumbled and my heart feels jittery.  One minute I'm standing with my back against the wall on the verge of tears and in the next minute I find myself straightening up and remembering that I don't have to feel like a big ball of nerves.  I'm weak, yet I'm strong.  I'm scared, yet I trust that Jesus is still our Guide.  Like Kevin Malarkey said in his book, I'm a lot like Peter when Jesus told him to get out of the boat and walk on water.  Confident in Jesus in one moment and then focused on the waves and the sinking next.

In the coming days, I just ask that you would pray for us.  Pray for safe travels.  Pray that Will comes through all of the testing without issue.  Specifically pray that he doesn't have any negative affects from anesthesia.  I would also ask that you continue to pray for God's healing.  Will is already our little miracle boy, but we really need his chest to grow enough to support his lung function.  I don't want him to require the chest expansion surgery to live, but if that's what the doctors say we need to do, then I pray that we will come to peace with that decision and that God will protect our sweet son.

Please also continue praying for our other friends, Aubree and Madden.  Aubree is doing well and has recently been moved out of the PICU and Madden is getting ready for extubation again.  Both of these families could use your continued prayers, too.

As always, we'll be keeping everyone updated via this blog and Facebook.  Thanks for your prayers and well wishes.  Feel free to share this page with others, too, the more prayer warriors the better!!

PS ---   I can't finish this post without a little humor, especially since I'm traveling to Philly with my hubby.  If you know him and his full name in life outside of this blog, you'll really get my humor about this guy,  Carlton Banks.  Maybe during our week in Philly I can teach hubby to finally dance like this?!?  Watch the video here.
